TrES-2b is an exoplanet discovered in 2006. It belongs to a class of planets called "hot Jupiters," which are gas giants that orbit very close to their parent stars. TrES-2b is particularly notable because it is one of the darkest exoplanets discovered to date. Its atmosphere absorbs almost all the light that hits it, making it appear almost completely black. This characteristic has earned it the nickname "the darkest exoplanet." TrES-2b orbits a star located about 750 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Draco. Its discovery was made using the transit method, which involves observing the slight dimming of a star as a planet passes in front of it.
